There's a little bit of plot, mostly having to do with how the BFG will deal with the really big giants who scare him and call him "runt"; this stuff resolves itself so quickly that it's as if the story realized it was getting late and the kids needed to get to sleep. Because the dream included the knowledge of Sophie's presence, the Queen believes her and speaks with the BFG. Most scenes in "The BFG" take their time unfolding. BFG says he took Sophie to keep her from spreading word of a giant sighting for fear that the humans may hunt him down. His name is an initialism of 'Big Friendly Giant'. It also causes "whizpoppers" literally explosive farts. Tibbs, the friend of Mr. Afterwards, a huge castle is built as the BFG's new house, with a little cottage next door for Sophie. Many consist of Sophie and the BFG talking as real friends might. As the Queen describes the dream, Mary sees a newspaper headline mentioning the disappearance of children in London. During action scenes, Spielberg doesn't hammer your eyeballs with fast cuts to keep you interested; he stages a lot of the conversations in long takes and keeps the camera far back, the better to allow you to appreciate the way the characters move through the frame, how they carry themselves, what they do with their hands.
